Accurate reconstruction of two iconic British fuzz pedals from the 60s, with two independent circuits for each model + a third bonus modern Silicon circuit. Both Bender models defined the sound of distorted guitars in the 60s and early 70s, particularly in the British rock scene. They can be heard on recordings by Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and others. Warm Audio now brings you both models in one package; additionally, it includes a third modern distortion of its own design. With one switch, you can choose between two legendary sounds and one contemporary sound.

Three in One
To achieve rich, thick, and rough distortion, you can utilize the authentic tone of the two most popular British fuzz pedals of the 60s, the Tone Bender, which took the British rock scene by storm. Just like both original two-transistor and three-transistor vintage pedals, the Warm Bender delivers all the raw, untamed tones these types of fuzz offered. Additionally, you have a bonus third circuit utilizing silicon transistors in a three-transistor topology for a more modern take on fuzz.

Trivially Simple Operation
Classic control with two potentiometers is typical for Tone Bender type fuzz.

  • Attack – feeds the input circuits, increases saturation, extends tone, and adds punch to the sound
  • Level – sets the output level

The third knob/switch in vintage style allows you to choose between three types of circuits:

  • NOS 76 - vintage model with two germanium transistors
  • NOS 75 - vintage model with three germanium transistors
  • Silicon – modern Warm Audio fuzz with silicon transistors

Completing the experience is the magical SAG switch located on the back. It simulates the characteristic gritty sound that accompanies a nearly dead battery, which is very sensitive to playing style and dynamics. Due to its characteristics, it has been used in various guitar techniques or as an effect of “dying tone”.

NOS 76
The two-transistor fuzz based on the OC76 boasts bright, sharp, and cutting tones that cannot be ignored. Just like the original silver and black style of the Tone Bender fuzz, the NOS 76 setting on the Warm Bender delivers aggressive fuzz with raw roughness and sharp attack. Solos and riffs will not get lost in the mix.

NOS 75
The three-transistor configuration boasts full bass with smooth, wavy, and thick fuzz tones. Like the original three-transistor version, it offers a rich, round, "darker" sound suitable for accompaniment, foundational riffs, and long chordal textures.

Silicon
The silicon setting of the Warm Bender utilizes a three-transistor topology similar to the NOS 75 setting but replaces germanium transistors with modern silicon ones. This setting serves as a transition between the sound of the traditional Tone Bender fuzz and a more modern distortion color. It offers smoother sustain, natural compression, and overdrive that blends well with other instruments on stage and in recordings.

SAG – Did my battery die???
The SAG switch on the Warm Bender restores the unique and special sound of the original Tone Bender fuzz pedals when the batteries run low or power is lost. These tones are extremely sensitive to playing dynamics or string touch. The resulting playing experience is akin to “tweed” mid-gain amplifiers at the brink of their lifespan.

Who used the Fuzz Bender in the 60s?

  • Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
  • Jeff Beck (The Yardbirds)
  • Pete Townshend (The Who)
  • Mick Ronson (David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed)
  • Dave Davies (The Kinks)
  • Marc Bolan (T. Rex)
