The ME011W MusicMan Compensated Nut is an original replacement compensated nut in white, designed for 5-string Ernie Ball Music Man basses made after 2005.
The ME011W MusicMan Compensated Nut is a genuine Ernie Ball Music Man replacement part designed to restore accurate intonation and stable tuning at the nut on post-2005 5-string Music Man basses. This version features a Flat Bottom design and a 1-3/4" (approx. 44.5 mm) width, making it the correct choice for specific factory nut slots used by Music Man.
Key features:
- Compatibility: Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay 5 (SR5), Bongo 5, Sterling 5 (STL 5), Reflex 5 and Big Al 5.
- Material & colour: White plastic.
- Dimensions: Length 45.2 mm, height 7.9 mm, thickness 6 mm, and string spacing (E to E) 38 mm.
Who it’s for / best use:
- Ideal for players and techs replacing a worn or damaged nut on a post-2005 Music Man 5-string bass.
- Great for any style where accurate intonation and consistent tuning matter—studio work, modern rock, funk, pop, metal, and extended-range bass playing.
Important installation notes:
- String slots supplied as a blank: The nut is supplied as a blank. The string slots have pre-moulded positions, but once fitted to the neck they must be final-filed with nut files to match your string gauges and preferred action.
- For genuine instruments only: Music Man compensated nuts use a specific base/foot shape introduced in 2005 and do not fit standard straight nut slots. The manufacturer does not recommend installing it on other guitar/bass brands.
- Sterling by Music Man instruments: This part does not fit the more affordable licensed Sterling by Music Man basses without significant neck modification and routing.
