Elixir Strings are currently among the most sought after and popular among musicians worldwide. This American company was founded in 1995, but at that time, it had little to do with strings. It primarily focused on developing high-quality audio cables.

However, there were guitarists in the Elixir team who came up with the idea of producing guitar strings that would have perfect sound, as well as exceptional lifespan and resistance to damage and wear. During the long development process, Elixir faced many dead ends in material selection, whether it was nylon, polyurethane, or rare precious metals.

The engineers at Elixir decided to take a different approach. In a lab equipped with the latest devices, they analyzed the properties of dozens of popular string types to determine what makes a good string. They sent the first prototypes to over 15,000 guitarists who could provide crucial feedback on the performance of the first Elixir strings in practice. Thus, these strings underwent the most rigorous testing evaluated by the most demanding subject – the musician's ear.

The primary result and the first mass-produced model became the Elixir Polyweb strings, which were and are offered in versions for electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitars, banjos, and mandolins. They were followed by the improved Elixir Nanoweb. Both types share the same technology: the core of the strings made from the best metal alloys is covered with a thin layer of polymers that protect the strings from wear, corrosion, and dirt. As a result, Elixir strings last up to 5 times longer than standard strings.
