Two years ago, we took on the challenge to bring a completely new version of strings to the market. What you hold in your hands is the result.

This is the strongest set of electric guitar strings ever made. These strings are 30% stronger than any previous versions. They are designed for quicker tuning and longer-lasting stability. The wound strings boast a stronger signal, and the plain steel strings definitely do not sound thin.
Getting to this point was not easy. Our technicians overcame many milestones, starting with the selection of new high-carbon steel alloys, a complete re-visualization of the wire drawing process, and revolutionary corrosion-resistant tin application technology. The result is something you've never experienced: unprecedented strength and tuning stability.

But creating the strongest strings in the world was not enough. Our engineers simultaneously worked on re-evaluating the nickel-plated steel winding. The result is something you will have to hear to truly believe. Our new strings feature 6% better magnetic permeability, resulting in a stronger signal in the 2-5 kHz range. And that means more punch, crunch, and bite. Where there is better magnetic performance, there are simply more options.

Until now, there have only been two significant generations of wound electric guitar strings. The original formula, dating back to 1950, used pure nickel and created a characteristically soft tone. In the early 1960s, John D'Addario introduced the brighter sound of the second generation - nickel-plated steel winding. This became the manufacturing standard for the next five decades. Currently, 80% of all electric guitar strings are based on Mr. D'Addario's formula.

And here we are again. D'Addario is introducing another revolution in electric strings. The BETA sample of strings you will be testing is encoded in the name XLFormula3. It represents the long-awaited third generation of strings. Because our family has been making strings for hundreds of years, we take it as our personal responsibility to be pioneers and innovate. Our new strings are proof of that.

At the beginning of 2014, after the BETA phase, the product will officially be ready as D'Addario NYXL strings. This name is very important for distinction; our family and company have a rich history in New York. All forms of the new steel windings were conceived, created, and perfected here - in the Empire State. We are proud that our heritage comes from New York, and we are even prouder that all our strings are made in our home on Long Island.
