The EWS Japan Tri-logic Bass Preamp 3 is a versatile integrated preamp in pedal format, designed to deliver transparent sound options for both passive and active bass guitars.

The third generation Tri-Logic3 retains the same neutral character as Tri-Logic1 and 2, minimising tonal colouring, while adding plenty of new features and flexibility to suit any bass guitar. The gain control offers a choice between clean boost mode (Normal), with a maximum of +18 dB, or a high-gain mode (Hi Gain) with compression up to +26 dB. The treble control provides ±15 dB and can be switched between 4 kHz (Low) or 8 kHz (High) via a switch. The mid control provides ±10 dB and allows sweeping from 250 Hz to 3 kHz. The bass control provides ±15 dB, switchable between 40 Hz (Low) and 80 Hz (High), enabling a precise and flexible sound in any playing environment.

The Tri-Logic also features a built-in DC-DC converter capable of generating 18VDC. You can select 9VDC or 18VDC using an internal DIP switch. Compared with 9V, 18V offers less distortion with a wider tonal range, but note that the battery will drain faster. After stepping on the pedal or changing the DIP switch settings, a “pop” may occur when engaging the pedal. This is not a malfunction. Simply switch the pedal on/off repeatedly to release the voltage and stabilise the pedal. When switching between 9VDC and 18VDC, turn off all power to the pedal to protect the internal electrical components.
